6-Ground06
Ground 6, from the series Ground
To make the series Ground, I shifted the camera’s perspective downward. I photographed traces of life—fallen Jacaranda petals—or elements—an evaporated puddle, evidence of life or existence that was eroding or had vanished. I probed the question of what remains after absence and loss? What lingers? What persists in being despite what is gone? Images of rocks serve as indices of what is no longer present—markers for remembrance.
Ground is part of Janelle Lynch: Barcelona (Radius Books, Fall 2013).
